Chitooligosaccharide consists of
2-10 2-amino-2-deoxy-Beta-D- glucose residues, linked by Beta- 1, 4-glycosidic linkage. The COS comes from Chitin, which is an oligosaccharide isolated from the outer skeleton of insects, crabs and shrimps. As the only oligosaccharide with positive charge in nature, COS has several characteristics which Chitosan do not have, for example lower molecular weight, better soluble and safety.
